It’s far too easy to have a quick look where the fairway is, make a great swing and then block yourself out. We need to pay attention to what’s happening on a hole and see where the green and pin is - it might be the case that the rough gives you the best shot in.

Similarly there’s no point in hitting a great approach shot and then ending up in a bunker. We need to understand where we are likely to hit it and that likely means hitting away from the flag but still giving ourselves a putt that we might hole.
