Pitching should be an area of the game where we can take advantage of a great drive or save par but many of us struggle to find any consistency when it comes to these shots.

Poor techniques and poor club selection are commonplace here, as is an element of anxiety.

Leading PGA Professional Steve Johnston has some great pointers to help us to tighten up our pitching (like Georgia Hall, pictured).

  1. Think about what club to use - less loft is often more effective
  2. Think about quiet arms and wrists and about a U-shaped swing
  3. Rotate your body and forearms 
  4. Keep the clubhead low throughout 
  5. Employ a shallow of attack
