A short game tip that the tour players use

There can be nothing more frustrating in golf than making good progress towards the green only to be let down by a poor short game. In this video, PGA Professional Steve Johnson shows how a simple change in technique, which helps to utilise the bounce angle of the club, can reap considerable rewards from around the green.

If you use an overlapping or interlocked grip, Steve suggests changing that to a 10-finger grip for controlled chipping. Moving the right hand – the lead hand – further down the club promotes much more of a flicking action and takes pressure off the left hand while the back of the club – the rounded part – bounces off the turf instead of digging in.

Give this technique a try and see if you become a short game wizard.
