PGA Play is a service from The PGA that helps golfers of all levels improve their golf by matching them with a qualified PGA Professional. Our aim is to make it easier for you the golfer to find exactly the coach that you’re looking for. Start on the journey to improving your golf now.
PGA Play is designed to help you find PGA Professionals in your area and to match your specific lesson requirements. If you’re new to the game of golf we suggest you simply search based on your location as all PGA Professionals will be able to help improve your game. If you’re looking for something specific, for example improving your short game, then you can use the filters on our search to find PGA Professionals who specialise in helping golfers improve their short game.
If you live in a particularly rural or remote area you may have to expand your search to further than 5 miles to find your nearest PGA Professional. At the moment we’re adding PGA Professionals to our listings all the time so it is possible a coach near you might not be listed on PGA Play yet.
As soon as you hit send on the enquiry form we deliver your enquiry to the PGA Professional you selected. As well as sending an email we also send a text to the PGA Professional. As most PGA Professionals are busy with coaching or managing at their club you should expect a reply within 72 hours.
A PGA Professional will spend most of their time coaching or will be busy with all the activities it takes to run a successful golf club or coaching facility. If you haven’t had a response to your enquiry within 72 hours we would recommend that you send a reminder enquiry or take a look at other coaches in your area.
If you have just started to play golf you should be able to find a PGA Professional local to you within 5-10 miles. If you’re looking for specialist coaching you might have to travel a bit further.
The price of golf lessons varies depending on the type of lesson you want and the level of coaching expertise. Many PGA Professionals will offer a discount for a series of lessons and some will also offer coaching on a subscription. Any lesson you have will be great value as it will increase the enjoyment you get out of the game of golf.
You’ll need your golf clubs, although if you’re new to golf you could always ask your PGA Professional for help in selecting clubs. You’ll need clothing that allows you to move freely, especially your arms. It’s also important to wear appropriate footwear with good grip. As you would for any sport it also makes sense to take a bottle of water to keep hydrated. You can see our guide on what you can expect from your first golf lesson here.
This is one question that we can’t answer. If you want to continuously improve then you’ll need to continue having golf lessons. Remember every professional player you see at The Open or The Masters employs a golf coach.
The Professional Golfers’ Association is a members’ organisation whose members are qualified in everything to do with the game of golf from coaching to club management. You can find out more here.
